With two university fine arts departments and several world-class performance venues, the Keweenaw offers a variety of theater, opera, and ensemble music performances. The Calumet Theater, the United States’ first municipal theater, is a stunning, multi-tiered facility that presents a range of community and touring productions throughout the year. The Michigan Tech Rosza Center is home to the Great Events series, which brings in touring productions from around the world. The Rosza Center also hosts university theater, dance, and music productions, as well as performances and festivals mounted by local organizations. Michigan Tech’s “black box” McArdle Theater offers numerous instrumental, dance, and theater productions throughout the year.

During the early summer, the Keweenaw hosts the highly acclaimed Pine Mountain Music Festival. The Festival is unique, offering a variety of performances by vocal and instrumental artists from around the world, culminating with an opera finale in the stunning Rosza Center.
Get involved: Local performing arts organizations welcome new members for performing and behind-the-scenes opportunities.
